Waiting in L.A.....

Sitting, watching, WAITING!

We are checked in to Qantas for our flight!!!!! We depart in 4 hours!!!! AND, to pass the time- the people watching is great! :)

Shel is already bored and we still have 6 hours!

The start of our adventure.....

Our adventure begins! Starting on the boat at 4am with the Murphy and ending (for now) in Seattle at Pike's market!

On Sunday we got up at 4am, got ready to go and said goodbye to the boat for the summer (Yes Adelle- we left you a surprise!) Mom met us at the airport BUT she forgot the coffee....geeeeze! (Highliner was closed!) We got checked in after waiting in the summer airport line-- i saw many pounds of fish leaving Sitka that morning, and many more to come.

The hardest part was saying goodbye to our child- I mean really- who leaves their only child for 2.5 months... pretty selfish!! Murphy gave his mumma a big hug and went off happily to grandma's house for the summer (rumour has it he is already living a life of ease being spoiled at grandma's!)

After arriving in Seattle, we checked into our hotel and then road the new light rail to Pike's Market where we hung out for the afternoon. After living in Sitka awhile it is truly hard to see the prices at the market-- and not for crap either! For good, homemade yummyness! We had a treat of stuffed grape leaves, marinated mozzarella and olive loaf bread. Then later- yes we ate AGAIN!- we had gyros and beer from Bolivia...interesting mix! everything was great!

Today (Monday) we are excited to get on the plane at 2pm and fly to LA where we will wait another 7 hours to get on another plane and fly 15 hours to AU! Hurry up and WAIT!!

We are only a day and a half away from AU, cheers! Meggan and Sheldon

This just in!

Sheldon and I just "discovered" or "remembered" that we have 2 nights in Seattle on our way to Sydney! We were looking forward to one afternoon just to discover that we now have two! We made our reservations so long ago that we forgot about the "extra" day and night! Pikes Market- here we come! That's this Sat. afternoon- Monday morning! We fly from Seattle to L.A. Monday at 2pm... then it is straight to Sydney from there!! 2 more days of school and 4.5 until we reach Sydney! Oh baby! So excited! :)

P.S. How cute is this: I got a request today to bring Joey back a Joey!! Too cute! :)

We got our international student/teacher ID cards today! Getting closer and more official everyday! 5 more days until we leave!

We want to check this out while we are in AU! Music, beer, dancing and camping- what more could we want!!!
AU Celtic Festival

My bags are packed, I'm ready to go....

Well, we got a lot of running around done today, mostly in preparation for our trip in 6 days! All the paperwork is to mom and the bags are packed! Nothing to do but the waiting.... I'm standing here outside your door.....

We also did some searching for a car, van or other 4x4 today on gumtree.com which is like the criagslist of Australia! We found a van with all the accessories for $2,999 and another 4x4 being sold privately from "Nick and Rick" for $2,200. It will be exciting to see what we end up with once we get to Sydney!

Another exciting thing is that we purchased "Aussie Rules Football" tickets last week! Cheap seats with the rowdies!Cold beer and crazy football, here we come! Mom is going to give us gift certificates for our wedding anniversary to go to a performance at the Sydney Operah House too! So excited for everything.....

Dear Time, please past swiftly! I know you are dragging your feet and not moving as fast as usual for me. Perhaps you have been feeling ill or sleepy? Maybe I could offer you a Red Bull or a strong cup 'o Joe to get you perky feeling and moving faster. I am anxiously awaiting the 29th of May but you seem to be going as slow as a tortoise on a hot, dry day. In fact, your feet may not even be out of your shell at the speed you are progressing! Please hurry.... I don't know how much longer I can take all this procrastination!
