Day Two Sydney- Just as amazing as the first!
After a great nights sleep- we were up early and ready to go! all in all we walked about 12-15 miles today and covered tons and tons of ground! we first walked to "Paddy's Market downtown. A outdoor/indoor market selling everything! Tourist stuff, fish and produce were all here! we tasted some fruits we had never had including a "dragon fruit!" After the market we walked to the Fish market- which was awesome! Every kind of fish you could imagine laid out for purchase! We saw crabs as big as a bucket, lobsters and more! we decided this is the place for lunch tomorrow! For $26 au we can share a fish platter with about 20 tastes on it! The pelicans were also here- eating fish scraps! After the fish market we were going to go to the aquarium but after seeing the admission prices we decided to walk to the ferry terminal and check out the Toranga zoo instead-good choice! We took the ferry to the zoo-across the bay with amazing views of the opera house and bridge. at the zoo we saw many animals including the cutest of all- the Koala bear! really- too cute! The Toranga Zoo is one of the best zoos I have ever been to with spectacular view across the bay unto Sydney major. Along with some of the best cared for and unique animals- they have a complete AU animal section and a walk-about kangaroo section where i was about 2 feet from a kangaroo! Way cool! After the zoo we rode the ferry back and had dinner at a local pub in "The Rocks" a popular downtown section known as one of the oldest in Sydney- dating back to Aboriginal times.
All in all we walked about 15 miles and covered some ground today- we also saw St.Mary's Cathedral (as well as last night with the lights on it!) What a great first two days in Sydney! I don't think we could have asked for or done more!! Tomorrow = more walking and discovery!
